Shirley Marguerite Armfield, beloved wife of William Franklin Armfield, passed away peacefully at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home in Florence on May 11, 2010 at the age of 93. Visitation will be Thursday, May 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home, with services following in the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Joy Morgan will officiate. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Born on July 18, 1916 in Lawton, Kentucky to Urcle and Estella Fielding, Marguerite enjoyed a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher. She retired from the Lauderdale County School system after teaching in Kentucky, Ohio, and most recently at Lexington Elementary School.

Marguerite and Frank treasured their almost 62 years of marriage, and traveled extensively during Frank's twenty-four year Army career. Marguerite was quite happy living in Japan, Germany and Iran.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, James Fielding.

Marguerite is survived by Frank, her husband; her sister and brother-in-law Sybil and Roy Stevens; her niece Debby Nelson and husband Glen; grand nephew Doug Hartley, his wife Patricia and their children Jessica and Jamie; grand niece Jennifer Roberson, her husband Chad and their children Bailey, Bentlee, Bella and Mac; and special family friend Todd Thompson, all of Florence. She is also survived by several cousins and their families, who live in Kentucky.

Marguerite will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
