BERRIGAN, Faustina Anastasia — 85, of Halifax, passed away on Febru­ary 9, 2011, in Maplestone Enhanced Care. Born in Queensport, Guysbor­ough Co., she was the daughter of the late Simon and Kate Mae (Jellow) Fitz­gerald. She moved to Halifax and set­tled in the North End, where she married her hus­band, Jack, in St. Joseph’s Parish, and later went on to be a founding member of St. Ste­phen’s Parish. She took great pride in raising her 12 chil­dren, never mis­sing a hockey game, ball game, majo­rette event or any of their other activ­ities. Her door was always open and everyone was welcome to stop by. Af­ter her children had grown up, she continued that tradition becoming known as ' Nanny Faus' to many of the children in the neighborhood. She was co-founder/owner of Guysborough Transfer, which was later taken over by her sons. In 1997, she returned back to her Queensport home, over looking Chedabucto Bay, and became active in St. Vincent de Paul Church. She enjoyed a good game of cards, bin­go, her lexicon, as well as to travel with her family and many friends.

Survived by her children, Miriam Marshall, Donna (Walter) Denny, Michael (Shirley), Patrick, Darlene (Rick) Cluett, Jo-Anne (Tim) Roski, Paula Grant, Kathy (Jim) Bethune, Annette Schmeisser, Andrew (Nikki); 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchil­dren; one great great-granddaughter; and brother, Andrew 'Boke'.

Prede­ceased by her husband, Jack; sons, John and Joey; granddaughter, Denise; and brothers, Cyril and James.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, in Blessed Mother Tere­sa Parish (corner of Normandy Drive and Robie Street), with Father Gerald David officiating. A reception will fol­low in the parish hall. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Queensport.
