FITZGERALD, Barbara Patricia – 84, of Tidal View Manor, formerly of Little River, Yarmouth Co., passed away January 12, 2010, in Tidal View Manor. Born on September 6, 1925, in Hove, Sussex, England, she was a daughter of the late George Bambridge and Constance Baker. Barbara was a war bride, and came to Canada in 1946 on the Aquatania. She was the mother of 17 children and her family was her life. She was a confidante and friend to each one of her children. She also worked as a beautician. She is survived by daughters, Diana (Gary) Nickerson, Kentville; Theresa (Lloyd) Deviller, Little River; Rebecca (Donald) LeBlanc, Melbourne; Yvonne (George) Christian, Sackville, N.S.; Leah (John) Shubert, Horseshoe Bay, Texas; Norma (Kevin) Crosby, Brenton; Linda (Pat) Patten, Brooklyn; Zena (Harold) White, Little River; Rhoda (Scott) Nickerson, Brenton; Rachel (Darren) d’Entremont, Wellington; sons, David (Beatrice), Arcadia; James (Marie), Little River; Norman (Gwen), Little River; Ivan (Linda), Wedgeport; sister, Katherine Munroe, Scarborough, ON.; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Hilda Winters, Arcadia. She was predeceased by husband, George; twins, David and Doreen; son, Mark Wayne. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with prayers at 8 pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be held Friday, January 15 at 11 am from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Monsignor Gerald LeBlanc officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Canadian Down Syndrome Society or the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
