Preceded in death by wives Cathy Coughlan Flynn and Rita Kelly Glynn Flynn; parents Louis Leo, Sr. and Marion McAlpine Flynn; and daughter-in-law Sue-Ae Park Flynn. Survived by his wife Mary Clare Ryan Flynn; brother John Robert Flynn (Nancy) of Denver; sister Mary Flynn Antil of Green Bay; children Louis III (Jessica), Mary Nantell (Tim), Cathy, Patrick (Jodi), Kevin (Mary Jean), Brigid Spellman, Tom (Diane), John (Gale), Sarah (Helen Boyne), Daniel (Julie), Tracy (Sheri Simonsen); 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sister Helen Coughlan, Maura Coughlan Robertson of Bellevue, Washington and Dorothy Coughlan of Mankato; the 7 children of his second wife Rita and the 8 children of his current wife Mary Clare plus all of their spouses, children and grandchildren; and many, many friends.

Born and raised in South St. Paul, he attended South St. Paul High School and graduated from Cretin High School, St. Thomas College and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He served in the army in New York and Valley Forge, PA and returned to St. Paul to practice psychiatry serving on the staffs of St. Joseph's and Miller Hospitals. He raised eleven children, and retired from his practice 13 years ago to care for Cathy, his wife of nearly 50 years, during a prolonged illness. He married again, and again, and fought his way back from several strokes, though unfortunately not this latest one.

He will be remembered as a father, husband, brother, friend, physician, Irishman, Catholic, athlete, humorist, raconteur, bon-vivant, poet, linguist, lyricist, bag-piper, gourmet, gourmand, wit, crossword enthusiast, Mr. Pat of 1986, charter member of the Summit Avenue Recreation Association, and the unchallenged world's strongest psychiatrist. We will all miss him.

Visitation Friday, September 17, 4-8PM, at O'HALLORAN AND MURPHY FUNERAL HOME (575 South Snelling Ave., St. Paul) 651-698-0796. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, September 18, 10AM at ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH (51 W. 7th Street, St. Paul). Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
