FORTUNE, James Robert - 78, Noel, Hants Co., passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Stanley, Cumberland Co., he was a son of the late Randall and Susan (Forest) Fortune. He served with the Canadian Army for four years, two years were spent overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. James was an employee of Oland's Brewery for 32 years. After retirement he and his wife, Edith (Parker), spent their winters in Florida. Besides his wife, he is survived by son, Ron Fortune, Nine Mile River; sisters, Margaret, Parrsboro; Mabel, Chelsea, Lunenburg Co.; brother, Lee, Springhill. He was predeceased by brothers, Daniel, Henry, Lawrence "Bill", and Raymond. A graveside committal service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in Burntcoat Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home.
