Margaret Louise (Frank) Antonino August 3, 1929 - April 13, 2010

Margaret Louise (Frank) Antonino, affectionately known as "Mickie", was born August 3, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA, to Marie and Harry Frank; "Mickie" was the daughter of a pioneer in the oil exploration industry and moved with her family to Kern County at a young age; while her father was busy carving out a place in the Kern County oil industry, her mother was intent on "Mickie" and her sister were provided with the best possible education, dancing and music lessons; "Mickie" loved dancing and performing but, she excelled in classical piano; she was awarded a special commendation, at the tender age of 11 from the National Guild of Piano Teachers of America, of New York; "Mickie" went to a private girls catholic grammar school in Fresno, CA (Monterey Diocese) and graduated with honors from Immaculate Heart High School in Hollywood, CA; she was bound for Julliard School of Arts after graduation to further her dream of becoming a concert pianist; "Mickie" met John Antonino her senior year of high school and gave up her musical dream for a life long journey with her new dream of a home and family with John; "Mickie" and John established and operated Valley Steel Construction, one of the most successful steel building contracting firms in the United States, featuring Butler Steel Buildings; she was a tough business woman that John often would say. "just don't get on Mic's bad side"; she kept their company on an even "business keel" and was respected by all in a predominantly man's industry; she always made time for their children, Kathy, Barbara, and Chuck as well as their growing families of grandchildren; there was no doubt in their minds how much they all were loved; "Mickie" was generous with love of her family, friends and community; she found time to serve as President of the Woman's Italian Heritage Dante Club, was philanthropic with several Community and National causes; there was very little if any notoriety, she found pleasure in what she did and not the acknowledgements; "Mickie" was passionate about great food, cooking large feast for Holidays and Special Family Gatherings; she loved being with her family; she was a person of Faith with a strong Constitution in all her beliefs; this was evident in the way she lived; "Mickie's" life was tragically diminished in her mid 60's after being stricken with Alzheimer until her passing on April 13, 2010; her body and mind is now free and her spirit lives through all of those that love her. "Mickie" was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John B. Antonino, her parents and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy and her husband Basil Perch, Barbara and her husband Ellis Daniels; her son, John "Chuck" Antonino; grandchildren, Tiffany and Daniel Wainwright, Charlie and Cory Daniels, Michele and Eric Oberti, Dedi and Bryan Somavia, B.J. and Megan Perch, John and Nikki Antonino, Lisa and Brian Gifford; and 18 great-grandchildren. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 900 H St.
