Leah Jeanette Frei Bracken

Santa Clara, Utah

Leah Jeanette Frei Bracken, 81, passed away November 11, 2014, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah.

Leah was born December 6, 1932, in St. George, Utah, to Clawson and Valda Baker Frei.

She grew up in Santa Clara, Utah, and lived there most of her life.

She attended elementary school in Santa Clara, then went to Woodward Junior High and Dixie High School in St. George, graduating in 1950.

Leah worked as a waitress for seventeen years at Dick's Café in St. George.

In 1975, she went to work at Brown Hales Insurance, followed by Olsen Jackson Insurance, Olsen Leavitt Insurance, Diversified Insurance and then First Security Insurance until she retired in 2000.

Leah was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society.

After retiring, Leah and her husband La Var served a "Membership Location Mission" for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. George, Utah.

Leah loved her family and was a hard worker. She was a private person who stayed out of the spotlight, but she was always there offering support and encouragement to her children and grandchildren.

She was a great cook and spent a lot of time trying new recipes as well as cooking family favorites.

She made amazing dinner rolls--everyone in the family, especially the grandkids looked forward to eating them at holiday gatherings. She also made great candy, including peanut brittle, English toffee, Olympia Cremes and dipped chocolates. She like to read. Leah was very interested in family history work and loved to talk about genealogy. She loved to travel. Hunting was a favorite past time for the family and she had a good time going to deer camp.
