Florence E. Fuchs of Gaylordsville, CT, died Friday February 5, 2016 in New Milford Hospital at the age of 94.She was born November 7, 1921 in New Milford, CT, daughter of the late Charles C. and Mary E. (Paine) Pomeroy. She attended both the Waller School and the Gaylord School before graduating from New Milford High School in 1939.She attended the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1943 and completed Post graduate work at the Yale University School of Nursing, specializing in Operating Room Technique & Supervision.

A Registered Nurse for over 46 years, she began her career at Danbury Hospital as the Supervisor of the Operating Room. After moving back to the Pomeroy family farm in Gaylordsville from Danbury she worked at New Milford Hospital retiring in 1986 as Head Nurse on 2 South Wing.
Always a person to help others, she continued to volunteer at New Milford Hospital where she contributed over 4000 hours as a Surgical Patient Family Information Service co-coordinator.

Florence enjoyed traveling after retirement and was especially fond of her yearly trips to Florida to be with her sisters for several months at a time. They were affectionately known as the "Golden Girls".

She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and those whose lives she touched and helped to make better throughout her Healthcare Career. Florence was predeceased by her husband Martin Fuchs in October of 1989, her daughter Sandra Fuchs in 2011 and her sister Sylvia Garrity. She is survived by her sons Karl and his wife Eileen of Gaylordsville, CT and Charles and his wife Eileen of Monroe, CT, her sister Marion of Aurora, CO, her grandchildren Christopher, Kelsey, Shannon and William, her great grandchildren Sydney, Skye, Keegan and Riley and several nieces and nephews.

A private cremation and service will take place at the convenience of the family.Contributions in her memory may be made to the New Milford VNA, 68 Park Lane Rd. New Milford, CT 06776 or the Gaylordsville Historical Society, P.O. Box 25, Gaylordsville, CT 06755.
