Carolyn spent 26 years working for Louisiana Pacific Corp. Starting at Big Lagoon and then the Arcata Particle Board Division. She made many friends at work who she remembered fondly after her retirement in 2000.
Carolyn’s greatest joys came from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her last four years were spent sharing baby sitting duties with her daughter for her great granddaughter, Alysa, who gave her the name “Gigi”. These memories will always be cherished.
Carolyn also enjoyed going places in her 5th wheel with her husband, friends, and family. For the last 20 years she became the Matriarch of the Campbell Family Reunion held in Wyntoon each August. She welcomed all family and friends into her realm with generosity beyond compare. Carolyn had a generous heart and loved all family members with great honestly and compassion. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and shared precious times with her.
She is survived by her husband Allon Campbell; Son, Ben Campbell and wife Sandy of Springfield, Oregon; Her daughter, Beth Conway and husband Pat of McKinleyville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Julie Cringle and husband Nick of McKinleyville, and Hillary Campbell of Springfield, Oregon. She will always be known to her great grandchildren Alysa and Brayden Cringle and Jayda Campbell as “Gigi”. She is also survived by her mother Johnie Gable and sister Sharon Reader and husband Don of Lincoln City, Oregon. Carolyn also had many extended family members, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws (along with all their children and grandchildren), who will cherish the special times spent with her. She is also survived by her friends of 40 years Roy and Diana Johson, and second “daughter” Brenda Hinton.
The family would like to thank all those who prayed and took care of us during the last days of Carolyn’s life. She would have been very proud to know this many people cared and were there for us. She will live in the memory of all those who loved her forever.
A memorial service will be held for Carolyn on January 6th, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Beth Conway on Baird Rd in McKinleyville. All friends and family are invited to come and share lifelong memories with us.
Arrangements are under the care of Pierce Mortuary, Eureka.
