Leah Jane Garner, 85, of Masontown, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born in Rock Forge on March 21, 1926, a daughter of the late Roy and Helen McCrobie Shaffer.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Masontown VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1589 and the Masontown VFD Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, John Garner; three daughters, Linda Hanlin and husband Darrell of Masontown, Deanna Hovatter and husband Lloyd of Masontown, and Helen Born of Reedsville; three brothers, Carl Shaffer of Charles Town, WV, Melvin Shaffer of Masontown, and John Shaffer of Masontown; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers; Tom Shaffer, Dorsey Allen Shaffer, and Clarence Shaffer; and a son in law, Jacob Cay Born.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday January 31, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time with the Rev. William Winston officiating.

Services will be held at Field Funeral Home, Masontown, WV.

Internment will follow in the Masontown Cemetery.
