Lizzie D. Alley was born on October 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Chester Lee and Lula Jane Smith Garrard. On July 4, 1945, she was united in marriage to Freeman Edward Alley, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 1, 1972. Lizzie departed this life on August 21, 2017 at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 24 days.

Lizzie's family remembers her as a wonderful mother with a big heart. She was generous, forgiving, and loving. Sewing was one of her favorite hobbies.

Lizzie is survived by her sons, Jerry Alley of Adamsville, Tennessee, Freeman Edward Alley, Jr. of Adamsville, Tennessee, Billy Alley of Somerville, Alabama, and Randall Alley of Leapwood, Tennessee; daughters, Kathy Branning of Greeneville, Tennessee, Glenda Smith of Enville, Tennessee, and Brenda Maness of Ramer, Tennessee; brother, Jerry L. Garrard of Adamsville, Tennessee; sisters, Allie Jeffreys of Adamsville, Tennessee, Betty Lidy of Kennett, Missouri, Mary Exilee Harbin of Savannah, Tennessee, and Doris Koliski of Adamsville, Tennessee; 29 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lizzie was preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy Alley and James Alley; daughters, Patricia Boswell and Tina Faye Alley; brother, William G. Garrard; sister, Carolyn Miller; and grandchildren, Angela Flores, Chester Lee Alley, Michael Alley, and Derrick Alley.
