Betty "Beah" Fry, 85, of Eagle River, died June 10, 2010, at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. A funeral was Tuesday at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, with Father Peter officiating. Interment followed at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Grant Stephens, John Pidgeon, Alan Hansen, Larry Stephens, Dave Charlton, and Darren VanDerwilt.

Betty was born June 22, 1924, in Chignik, to the late Harry Harris and Vera Giacometti. She lived in Chignik until 1944, when she moved to Washington state, where she resided until 1972.

She then moved to Kodiak, where she met Elmer LeRoy Fry. They married on Jan. 30, 1976. While living in Chignik and Kodiak she worked in many canneries. During the war she worked in a shipyard.

In 2001, Betty and Roy retired to Eagle River. Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Elmer LeRoy Fry; her aunt, Annie Sangnetti; daughter, Ladine Pidgeon; grandson, Steven Clark; granddaughters, Shellie Barber, Turea Deadman, Kista Lussier; daughter-in-law, Trudy Clark; sisters, Eva Suss, Charlotte Wilson, Liz Owens; brother, John Giacometti; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jack Lee Clark; granddaughter, Kimberlee Heapley; sisters, Sophie Anderson, Irene Harris and Harriet Crum; and brothers, George Harris, Louis Harris and Aleck Giacometti.
