Belle Orlena Bond

Belle Orlena Bond, 75, of Route 1, Eugene, died at her home Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1949. She was born Feb. 11, 1873, on the Old Gibson place, which is now Fern Ridge Lake. She was the daughter of pioneer parents. Her father, Louis Gibson [sic Lewis Dozier Gibson], came to Oregon from Missouri in 1849. Her mother, Sara Crow, came to Oregon from Wisconsin in 1852.

She was married to Robert B. Bond Sept. 5, 1894, at Eugene. She had been a life-long resident of Lane County, living for the past 54 years on the Bond ranch. She was a member of the Christian Church, the Daughters of the Nile, Willamette Court No. 2, Order of the Amaranth, and the Rebekah Lodge.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sisters: Lodema Matlock, of San Mateo, Calif., and E. May Hartog, of Anaheim, Calif.; two brothers: John Gibson, of Ada, Ore., and Robert Gibson, of Veneta.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Poole-Larsen Chapel. The Rev. Hugh McCallum will officiate. Interment will be at Rest Haven.
