Donald Gibson
CHESHIRE — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Eugene Faith Center for Donald James Gibson of Cheshire. Gibson died July 31 of heart disease at age 47. After the service, a reception will be held at Chavez Elementary School in Eugene.
He was born Nov. 29, 1961, in Youngstown, Ohio, to David and Beverly Dunlap Gibson. He married Cynthia Garibay on Nov. 22, 1986, in Coronado, Calif.
Gibson held a master's degree in education and worked as an elementary school teacher for 13 years. He was a first responder with Lane Rural Fire Department for 12 years and served in the Navy for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, David and Nancy Gibson; his mother, Beverly Gibson; two children, Holly Gibson of Cheshire and Kaila Gibson of Monmouth; two siblings, Dave Gibson Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Laure Cornell of East Liverpool, Ohio; two stepsiblings, Bill Booth of Granbury, Texas, and Lisa Schneider of Lisbon, Ohio; and two grandchildren. A son, Michael Gibson, died in 2004.
Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to Chavez Elementary School, Lane Rural Fire Department or Willamette Ski Patrol.
