Donald Earl Gibson of Springfield died April 22 of heart failure. He was 85.

Donald was born July 4, 1918, in Eugene to Earl and Amanda Hulegard Gibson. He married Susan Lary in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 2, 2000.

He attended Willard Elementary School in Eugene. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a co-owner of Terminal Cab Co. in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He worked as a bus driver for Lane Transit District from 1976 until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of the Eugene Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, dancing, country western music and western movies. He especially enjoyed his dog, Charlie.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Teddi Miller of Halsey; and three grandchildren. Two sons died previously.

Burial at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
