"Elizabeth Lathrop Gilbert, widow of J. Henry Gilbert died Sunday morning, June 5, 1910, at her home "Locust Hill" in Gilbertsville, in her eighty-fifth year, after a long illness. Nearly two years ago, from a fall she received an injury to a hip and since then she has been unable to walk. She was a life-long resident of that village a devoted Christian woman, sympathetic with those in affliction and generous to those in need. She will be greatly missed and mourned. The funeral was from the residence, Tuesday, at 3 p. m. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. L. H. Ecob of Flushing, N. Y., Mrs. A. B. Denny of Brookline, Mass., Mrs. T. Francke and Mrs. Fitch Gilbert of Cambridge, Mass., and one son, Henry L. Gilbert, of Columbus, Ohio.---Our Gilbertsville Reporter." ["The Otsego Farmer" (Cooperstown, NY), June 10, 1910, p. 6]
