Judith Gilbert Abraham, 60, beloved wife of Raymond, passed away on February 25, 2007 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Judith was born July 5, 1946, in Camden, NJ, the daughter of the late J. Craig Gilbert Sr. and Ruth Remonda Gilbert. She was educated at Woodrow Wilson and received her Bachelor's degree at Iowa Weslyan College, Mt. Pleasant, IA. For 32 years Judith taught elementary school in Cherry Hill, NJ. She retired in 1999 and moved to the family's summer home in Hoffmeister, NY, with her brother, John. There she substitute-taught at Piseco Elementary School for several years as well, and also continued to teach biology courses back in NJ. Judy was very active in her church, attending Atco Methodist in NJ and Lake Pleasant Methodist in NY. She had a gorgeous soprano voice and sang in the church choir in Hoffmeister. An excellent cook, Judy was never happier than when in her kitchen. She loved her gardens, always followed by her faithful dog, Hannah. In March 2006 she was united in marriage to Raymond Abraham, who survives her. Though of too short a duration, it was a loving and happy relationship. Besides her husband, she leaves her brother, John Jr. of Utica, her brother, Richard and Judith Gilbert of Sicklerville, NJ; and her niece, Lisa Ann Gilbert, also of Sicklerville. She also leaves seven stepchildren and numerous stepgrandchildren. Judy was predeceased by a brother, Stephen. She also leaves behind numerous family and friends in Hoffmeister, Utica, Atco, NJ, and Cherry Hill, NJ. Burial will be held in the spring in Methodist Church Cemetery, Hoffmeister, at the convenience of the family. Utica Observer Dispatch, February 28, 2007
