Harry Hull Giles was born July 1, 1934 in Bellville, AL, the youngest of five children. He passed peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends on August 14, 2015. He was a valued employee of the Department of Defense for 42 years. After retirement, Harry especially loved returning to Alabama to "the Giles country estate" spending time with family and friends. Harry was a gentle spirit with a firm handshake and a great sense of humor who enjoyed watching his teams: Crimson Tide, War Eagles and Cowboys. He avidly followed local, national and world news. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Donald, and siblings. Harry will be missed by friends and family, including wife, Fay Shumack Giles and grandchildren, Scott, Amy, James and William, as well as extended family and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks to Universal City United Methodist Church for their support and to Dr. Talafuse, Dr. Wilks, their staff and Silvertree Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Century Hospice for their dedicated care. A Graveside service celebrating Harry's life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:45 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
