Florence Edna Augspurger Giles
Florence Edna Augspurger Giles, 94, of Austin, Texas, peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 7th, 2005. She was born in Pulaski, Iowa, on August 30, 1910. to August 30, 1910 and Michael E Augspurger. She is the last of her five siblings to depart this earth, the end of a generation. She grew up on her family's farm and graduated from Bloomfield High School in Iowa in 1928 and received her associate's degree soon thereafter. She married Eugene Collins Giles on . September 6, 193L and they ran the Giles Rexall Drug Store in Bloomfield until 1951, when they moved to Texas.
A devoted wife and mother, she was also a past matron of the Friendship Chapter 46 of the Eastern Star in Bloomfield, Iowa. She transferred her membership to the Winodausis Chapter 141 of the Eastern Star in San Antonio, Texas. In 1981 she was also a member of Chapter X of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and spending time with family, hosting the majority of family gatherings as long as she could. She leaves behind many great memories and life lessons for her descendants, as well as her best homemade ice cream recipe. After spending most of their retirement in San Antonio, they moved to Austin in 1999 to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Her husband of 70 years, Eugene Collins Giles, preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her son, Dr. Grant Eugene Giles, D.D.S. of Midland, and daughter, Judith Ann Giles Henges and son-in-law Dr. David Faulkner Henges, M.D., of Austin, Texas. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Leslie Henges Dolliver of Austin, Grant Eugene Giles II of Houston, Karen Henges Ridwan of Houston, and Cynthia Jcanine Henges of Austin. She also leaves behind six greatgrandchildren, Anna Katherine Dolliver, Logan Grant Giles, Martha Collins Dolliver, Noor Elizabeth Ridwan, David Foster Dolliver, and Martin Henges Ridwaa.
Pallbearers will include Dr. Grant Eugene Giles, Dr. David Faulkner Henges, Grant Eugene Giles II, John Russell Dolliver, Chris Cameron, and Dan Russell. There will be a visitation at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, August 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where services will be .held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13th, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park. The Winodausis Chapter 141 will perform an Eastern Star service at the graveside. A Reception will immediately follow at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
