Died, at her home in this city on Tuesday, March 20, Emma, wife of William Beard, aged 53 years, 2 months and 6 days. Funeral from the house and services at the Third Presbyterian church.

Mrs. Beard was born in Ossett, Yorkshire, England, Jan. 14, 1835; came to this country May 24, 1863, and settled in Belleville, St. Clair county, Ill., and came to Springfield on Feb. 1, 1867, where she has since resided. She was a sister to Frank and Benjamin Godley, of this city, and was a most worthy woman, beloved by all who knew her. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 3-21-1888
