Gloria Ann Golightly Barger, 74, of Elizabethtown, returned to her Heavenly Home on September 16, 2016 at Bowling Green Hospice. Gloria was born July 8, 1942 in Paducah to the late Fred Ruben and Anna Louise Golightly. She was strong in the faith of the Lord, and cornerstone for her family and friends. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree of the Arts. She initially worked as a Chapter One Aid for Jefferson and Hardin County Boards of Education. After raising her family she returned to work as the director of a non-profit Adult Day Care Association, ARHHC Project LEARN. She later worked for the state of Kentucky as a Social Worker for Child Protection and Permanency of Hardin County until her retirement. She was a natural artist at heart. Her work could be seen at various performing arts venues in Elizabethtown, KY, as well as her artistic donations to her church, Elizabethtown Church of Christ.

Gloria was blessed with a large and loving family who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. She was married to the late David Allen Barger, and is survived by three children, Davanna Karger (Jeffrey), Christopher Barger (Bernie) all of Elizabethtown and Kimberly Dethridge (Timothy) of Bowling Green. Her grandchildren include Jeffrey, Jonathan, Steven, Crystal, Ruben, Ana, Padme, Madison Christopher II, Dylan, and Arden; a brother Donald (Jennifer) Golightly of Russell; an uncle, Aunts and several cousins.

A graveside service will be Tuesday September 20, 2016 at 1 p.m., at the Sharpe KY Church of Christ Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The family gladly accepts prayers, condolences and memories, JC Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
