Mary's obituary from the Richmond Times, Nov. 30, 1902:

Mrs. Mary R. Goodwin Atkinson died yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of her father, Dr. Daniel Goodwin, in Henrico county, her death following but a few days that of her husband, Dr. Henry D. Atkinson, who last Monday passed away at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Atkinson, of No. 811 East Grace Street. The death of the mother leaves an infant child, which has been legally adopted by the parents of its father. Mrs. Atkinson's death was due to consumption, with the last stages of which she had been suffering for many months.

Early this fall Mrs. Atkinson spent some time with Mrs. Sidney Dudley in Hampton, but her condition growing steadily more grave she was brought to her parents' home, near this city. At this time her husband accompanied her, and soon after arriving was taken ill with typhoid pneumonia, which resulted in his death. They had been married but little more than a year, Mrs. Atkinson being only eighteen years of age.

The funeral will take place from the home of Dr. Goodwin this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the service being conducted by Rev. Father Kauf, of Sacred Heart Church.
