Retired Armstrong Cork employee, longtime Millville resident

Mary B. (Gowan) Alexander, 99, of Millville, died Wednesday morning, June 23, 2004, at home after an extended illness.

Born and raised in North Carolina, she lived in Tennessee until moving to Millville in 1951. She had worked as a carton assembler for Armstrong Cork in Millville until her retirement in 1965. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

She is survived by five daughters, Decimal Trainer, Minnie L. Myers, and Ellie Brown, all of Millville, Jeanette Gaskill of Newfield, and Edith Lamb of Asheville, N.C.; a son, James Alexander of Millville; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 24 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar in 1974; eight children; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville.

There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
