Arvan Earnest (Jelly) Gragson, 76, of Quitaque, died Saturday, January 12 at Scott and White Hospital, Temple, TX.
He was the father of Willie Gragson of Wellington, and farmed in the Plymouth community from about 1928 to 1934. He also worked on the paving of Highway US 83 in 1932.
He was born in Faulkner County, Arkansas April 30, 1903, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Gragson.
A farmer and rancher, Mr. Gragson had lived at Quitaque 34 years. He was a Methodist and past master of the Quitaque Masonic Lodge No. 1248.
He was married to Cora Elmore of Plymouth on May 31, 1932 at Sayre, OK.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Cora Gragson of Quitaque; one son, Willie Gragson; two brothers, and two sisters, Oran Gragson and Nelson Gragson, Mrs. Inez Brownlee and Miss Oleta Gragson, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
