Following a year at Ottumwa Heights College, Lori established successful horticulture businesses in both the Chicago and Tampa, FL areas.

After marrying and living in Alaska for a short time, she was divorced and moved to Lucas County to raise her son near family.

In 2004, Lori married Captain Francis S. (Ford) Brockman. They enjoyed 11 years of wedded bliss building their home, raising a teenage son, and sailing on Lake Rathbun. She had a gift for gardening and was successful in growing orchids and many other houseplants. Her family appreciated her delicious suppers and baked goods. Passionate about pets, she took in many handicapped animals. Others lovingly referred to her acreage as an assisted living home for furry friends.

For 11 years she worked for Chariton Community Schools specializing as an aide for autistic children. She was respected for her patience, warmth and consistency while assisting each child. Lori was proud, resilient, and fiercely independent. These strengths were exhibited throughout her life and her illness. She had a gift for appreciating the beauty in people and things. Lori taught her family to live in the present, enjoy the moment and be grateful. Spending time with family and friends was her favorite thing to do. Lori always had a sparkle in her eye and warmth in her heart.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to honor her memory are her husband Ford; son William (Bailey) Janke; sister Susan (John) Rosa; brothers Bill Granahan and Joe (Janet) Granahan; and many nieces and nephews.
