West Webster, Jan. 9.-Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, occurred the burial of Mrs. Abigail Ballard of Rochester in the Rural cemetery here. Mrs. Ballard was born here in 1827 and spent the younger part of her life in this place. Her parents were the first settlers in Webster. Later Mrs. Ballard married and lived in Pittsford and after the death of her husband she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Mary A. Lockwood in Rochester, where she died. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Abbie E. Davis and Mrs. Mary A. Lockwood, at whose home the funeral was held Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Ballard has seen Rochester grow from a hamlet into a thriving city. She was 96 years of age.
