"UNCLE NICK" GRANT PASSES ON THURSDAY

Aged War Veteran Is Laid To Rest In Bakers Forge Cemetery Last Friday

Nicholas B. Grant, aged 90 years, and better known as "Uncle Nick" passed away at his home here last Thursday, services were held Friday and burial was in the Bakers Forge Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Grant was a Union soldier in the war between the states. Later he was sheriff of Campbell County, and was known and respected not only in this, but adjoining counties. He had lived in Campbell all his life and during his younger days was active in politics. Funeral services with military honors were held at the Demory Baptist Church with the Rev. George Haggard in charge.

Surviving are nine daughters, Mrs. Margaret Williams of Corton, Wash., Mrs. M. L. Hatmaker, Idaho, Mrs. F. A. Maupin, Oklahoma, Mrs. A. L. Haun, Concord, Tenn., Mrs. Susan Lawallen, Mrs. Dave Davis, Mrs. Dewey Morgan, Mrs. C. L. Malicoat and Miss Mattie Grant of LaFollette, and two sons, Mitt and Rufus Grant of LaFollette.
