Visitation will be held at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Forest, MS from 5 to 8 pm today and again Wednesday, December 24, 2008, from 11 am until 1:30 pm followed by funeral services at the Homewood United Methodist Church in Homewood, MS at 2 pm Wednesday, December 24, 2008, with burial at the United Methodist Church Cemetery in Homewood, MS. Reverend Allen Blackburn and Reverend Al Lott will be officiating.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, John William Barnes; one brother, Earl Gray; four sisters, Earnie Odom, Alice Purvis, Helen Blackwell, and Eloyce Winstead.
She is survived by her son, Bill Barnes of Trenton, MS; her daughter, Joy Barnes of Trenton, MS; her brother, Kenneth Gray of Morton, MS; her sister, Joyce Lyle of Pearl, MS; two grandchildren, Shae Cannada and husband, Micah of Dothan, AL and Laurie Weathersby and husband, Randy of Florence, MS; two great-grandchildren, Ava Grace and Annelise Weathersby.
Her main interests were God, family, being with friends, flower and vegetable gardening, and quilting.
Paulbearers are: Bob Lyle, Tommy Lyle, Jeff Barnes, Ricky Hartzog, Larry Blackwell, and James Dunaway.
Honorary pallbearers are Micah Cannada and Randy Weathersby.
Colonial Chapel of Forest, MS is in charge of all the arrangements.
