On Tuesday morning January 25, 1994, the bright spirit of Carrie B. Booker graduated to a land that is free from sickness, anxiety, sorrow and pain. The Almighty God in His Omniscience has called to a peaceful rest, His beloved servant. We can only stand and gaze and bow our heads in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
Sister Carrie B. Booker was born July 10, 1903 to Hazzard and Sarah Green, in Athens, Louisiana; one of twelve children, all who preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age and has continued to serve Him until her transition a few days ago.
Later in life, she met and married Maude Booker, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of three children. Sarah, L.C. and Florence, who all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory; one special niece - Hattie B. White; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
It is a fact that life is uncertain. Two facts must claim our attention---the uncertainty of life and the certainty and nearness of death. Death is inevitable. We are born to die. We are to watch and pray and be ready when we must die. Naturally our hearts are filled with sorrow, and the tears will flow on occasions such as this when our loved ones are taken from us. But, we must still our grief long enough to acknowledge that 90 years, 6 months and 15 days of toils and burden bearing were exchanged a few days ago for the repose of heaven. We should rejoice and thank God for a life which leaves behind it a radiance of love, goodness, compassion, and perseverance.
