Loretta Margaret "Rita" Atkins
Our mother, Rita Atkins, of Boise, Idaho, passed away quietly on December 31, 2012 with her family by her side.
Rita was born September 17, 1909 in Baker, Oregon to Ross and Sofie Green. She was raised in Garden Valley, Idaho. Rita married Robert "Chance" Atkins and had six children. Rita owned her own brokerage firm and was a realtor for 30 years in Boise. In her retirement, she sold Vivian Woodward Cosmetics.
As a member of Plantation Country Club, Rita enjoyed playing golf. An avid reader, she also loved playing solitaire, painting, and making afghans for her family. Most of all, Rita enjoyed visiting with her family.
She surpassed her goal to make it to 100 years old, and lived on her own until shortly after her 103rd birthday, attended to by her grandchildren, Stephanie Mahaffey and Chance Atkins. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Benita "Bennie" Prohl, and sons, Jack, Ron, and Mickey.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Randy and Lee, her husband, two brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren, Richie and Darren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor. Burial Service will take place Tuesday, January 8th at 11:00am at Dry Creek Cemetery.
