Velma Gregory Alexander was born September 14, 1918 and passed away July 19, 2014 reaching the age of 95 years and 10 months old. Velma was born to Odie and Delia Miller Gregory. She joined older sister Wilma Gregory. As the result of sickness and death of her mother she lived with her grandmother Miller until age 7. She then went to live with her uncle Fred and Mattie Bell Miller. They raised her as their own, and she treated them as her parents.

She married Cecil Duncan Alexander April 9th, 1952. They were happily married until his death on August 11th, 1991. They never had children, but special nieces was very close and loved them very much, Sally Kidd and Patricia Lay did what they could to help and take care of Velma's wants and needs.

Velma was a loving wife, teacher, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by two half-sisters, Jean Turner of Somerset and Pauline Gutwind of Cincinnati, Ohio and a sister-in-law Faye Gregory of Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, uncle, aunt, her sister Wilma Gregory, two half-sisters; Josephine Jones and Evelyn Gregory and two half-brothers; Corbitt and Ralph Gregory.

Velma lived a very Christian life and attended the Monticello Church of Christ as long as her health permitted. Velma became ill and was blessed to be able to stay in her home until her death because of those God sent ladies, Jean Humble, Reva Cross, Mary Ann Denney, Brenda Daniels and Debbie Harris. We the nieces and nephews will forever be grateful for the love and care you showed Aunt Velma. Words cannot describe how much we appreciate her church family for the cards, visits and prayers.

Velma will be missed by family and friends.
