Eleanor (Grimaldi) Capizzi, 87, of Danbury, formerly of Brookfield, wife of the late Anthony C. Capizzi and mother of Marie Lane and the late Frank Capizzi died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home.

Born in Portland, Maine, January 24, 1927 and raised in Brooklyn, New, York, Mrs. Capizzi was the daughter of the late Frank and Assunta "Susie" (Capozza) Grimaldi. She attended New York schools and graduated from the Girl's Commercial High School of New York.
She was a self-taught artist and textile designer and was best known for her hand painted drapes and woman's blouses.

Mrs. Capizzi enjoyed participating in the game of mahjong.
A resident of the area since 1986 coming from Valley Stream, L.I., New York, she was a member St. Joseph Church of Brookfield and with her family attended St. Elizabeth Seton Church of Ridgefield.

In addition to her daughter, Marie Lane and her husband, Daniel of Bethel, Mrs. Capizzi is survived by her daughter in law, Denise (Mrs. Frank) Capizzi of Brookfield; twin sister, Anna Coiro of Snellville, GA; brother in law, Peter Capizzi of Long Island, NY; four grandsons, Marc Lane and his wife Jillian, Brian Lane and his wife Tiparny, Anthony Capizzi and his wife Cindy and Thomas Capizzi and his wife Marissa; six great grandchildren, Emma and Eleanor Capizzi, Hannah, Abigail, Emily and Alma Lane and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Frank and Susie, husband Anthony and son Frank, Mrs. Capizzi was predeceased by two sisters, Rosalie Lang and Margaret McCorvey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield with the Rev. Joseph A. Prince officiating.

Entombment will follow in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, L.I., New York.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
