She was a Flight Attendant for American Airlines, Local Editor for TV Guide, Secretary for the Management Office at the Sterrick Building and worked part-time in her husband’s dental office. She did volunteer work for MIFA Meals on Wheels for sixteen years, worked in the school clinic and acted as room mother where her children attended school.
She was a member of the Memphis KIWI Club (former American Airline Stewardesses), enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Cuddling with her puppies, Daisy and Emma, going to the casinos, Memphis basketball and bridge parties were also favorite pastimes.
She met her husband, Dr. George Anderson Bland, Jr. on a blind date and was married in 1955. He preceded her in death as well as her brothers, Rudy and Dick Grimaldi, and son, Andy Bland.
She leaves behind son, Tommy and daughter-in-law, Debbie; daughters, Nancy, Ellen, Gena, and Lisa and son-in-law, Randy Knoll. Also, grandchildren, Lauren Bland Skinner, George and John Bland, Kevin, Katie and Kelly Dugan, Evan and Hanna Bland, Sara and Austin Knoll and one great-grandson, Lincoln Dugan.
