Leonard Gerald Grimes was born on February 18, 1926 in Denton County, Texas to Oscar and Gladys (Lewis) Grimes. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a truck driver from the time he was 18 years old and continued this throughout his lifetime. Leonard loved the road and driving trucks which he did for over 40 years. He married Janiece Schroeder in Dallas, Texas on May 5, 1953 and they had 56 wonderful years of marriage. Leonard was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Leonard is survived by Janiece, Douglas, Jonathan, Kyla, Glen, Donald, Janet, Herman, and Jackie.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 2 PM, Friday, December 11, 2009 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Veit officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
