Born in Dothan, Alabama to James Robert and Lilla (Weeks) Grimes in 1901. Came to the RGV in 1918 and spent virtually all of her adult life here and dearly loved her Valley Home. She had resided in Houston only a few weeks prior to her death. Her father built their first home on A Street and Washington. Grimes Avenue in Harlingen is named after the family.

Her father J.R. Grimes was one of the first elders of the Harlingen Church of Christ, established in 1919 by Foly Wallace, Sr. who was then in San Benito, TX.

Her family remembers her as one who was not afraid to make long term, solid commitments... to her Lord and to her family. She was baptized as teenager, probably in Ranger, TX and never looked back. Her family remembered that she was present at every church assembly as long as her health permitted and church activities were always important to her.

She married Emmett O. Anglin, Sr. on January 6, 1920, and they had three children and ten grandchildren at the time of her death.
