Mr. Jerry Gordon Griner, 53, died Thursday night (July 4, 2013) at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.
He was a native of Dunedin, FL, but he has lived in the Waycross area the past 30 years. He was employed by Georgia Block and Brick and member of Astoria Baptist Church.
He is the son of the late Willie Gordon Griner and Nora Bell Varnadore Griner. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Griner, Susie Fuqua and Ellen Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Joyce Cooley Griner of Blackshear; one son, Jimmy Cox (wife Jana) of Waycross; two granddaughters, Jade and Julie Cox; 9 siblings, Annie Bennett, Willie Griner, Lester Griner, Gene Griner, Paul Griner, Mollie Seller, Nancy Spead, Nora Little, and Eve Kizziah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday (July 8, 2013) at Astoria Baptist Church. Memorialization is by cremation.
