Muriel Felicity Deike, age 85 of Waseca, died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in Waseca, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements are being completed by McRaith Funeral Home of Waseca.

Muriel Felicity was born in Faribault, Minnesota on August 5, 1924 to Lawrence and Ethel (Ray) Grundman. She attended St. Lawrence Parochial School in Faribault and, during these eight years, studied piano at the St. Lawrence Conservatory of Music. She graduated from Bethlehem Academy with certification in speed typing and Gregg Shorthand. Muriel was employed as a stenographer at Farmer Seed and Nursery in Faribault for 5 years, and for two years at Faribault's KDHL Radio Station. She was united in marriage to O. Kenneth Deike at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Muriel and Kenneth moved to Owatonna where Muriel was employed as an RBX Operator and secretary at Jostens, and later Federated Insurance Company. She also served as Steele County Deputy Treasurer for 2 years. In 1961 the Deike Family moved to Waseca and operated Deike Off Sale Liquor for 21 years. Muriel was employed as secretary to Waseca County Sheriff Donald D. Eustice, then served as secretary to Alf Larson at the Waseca Chamber of Commerce. She later worked as proofreader at the Waseca Journal for 11 years and Waseca County News for 2 years. Muriel had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, in Owatonna and Waseca, the America Legion Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, and a member of the Waseca Area Senior Citizens Board of Directors. For 7 years she served as secretary and lead lady for the Waseca Area Senior Citizens Center and their work program with Itron, Inc. of Waseca. Muriel loved music, scrap booking, writing, sweets, and time spent with her grandsons!

She is survived by her husband O. Kenneth Deike of Waseca; by her beloved son Keith (Pam) Deike of Waseca, and her beloved grandsons Jake and Maxwell Deike; by her brother James (Bonnie) Grundman of Owatonna; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son Kerry James Deike in 1974.
