He was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Farrell, Pa. to the late John and Mary Guist.
He attended Cleveland State University and was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served with 272nd Port Company in India and Africa. He was employed as a purchasing manager for the Yoder Co. of Cleveland for 16 years and the Warner-Swasy Company for 27 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Akron; Charles T. Raymer Lodge #683 F&AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree, Valley of Cleveland.
Carl is survived by his wife, Shirley M. (Michaelsen) Guist to whom he was married in 1962; his daughter, Michelle Phipps and granddaughter, Lauren Phipps, both of North Canton. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
