GUIST, John James - - - Died 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 1, 1987, at A.M.I. Riverview Medical Center, Gonzales. He was 57, a native of Bartlesville, Okla., and resident of Brittany. He was a retired Louisiana Department of Highways foreman. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. James Peters. Burial in New River Cemetery, St. Amant. Survived by wife, Gladys LeBlanc Guist, Brittany; three daughters, Ruby Guist and Jessica Guist, both of Brittany, and Myrna Guist Coupel, Pierre Part; five sons, Michael, Timmy and David Guist, all of Brittany, Keelin Guist, Walker, and Travis Guist, Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Mable Watts, Livingston, and Emma Guist, Prairieville; a brother, Hubert Guist, Brittany; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Albert and Faye Hines Guist; six brothers, Robert, Charlie, Vernon, Cecil, Claudie and Herbert Guist; and a grandson, John Joseph Guist. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Friendly Hunting Club.
