Patricia Faye Gunn
1930 ~ 2014
Patricia Faye Bishop Gunn was born October 15, 1930, in Jet, Oklahoma. She moved to Idaho as a young girl living in Salmon and Payette before settling in Boise. She married Ira Gunn in 1945 and had 3 sons, Daniel, Roger, and Jackie who died shortly after birth. They divorced in 1976.
Patricia lived an interesting life. She and her family lived on the grounds outside the Old Idaho Penitentiary for many years, and she told many stories about escapees running through her yard. She worked at Scott Mountain lookout, and was an Ada County deputy sheriff, a nurse's aide, and a magistrate judge in Washington. She and her family also owned and operated two businesses: Yatesville Truck Stop in Boise and the Beacon RV lot in Ilwaco, Washington. She worked as the head bookkeeper for Gem State Dental Supply until her retirement.
Patricia loved spending time in her yard and with her friends, children, grandchildren, and pets. She was preceded in death by sons Jackie and Daniel; granddaughter, Wendy; her parents, one sister, and three brothers, and her special companion of over twenty years, Garth Spackman.
She is survived by her son, Roger (Jolene) of Eagle; three grandchildren, Tom, Chad, and Kim, several great and great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Karen, and step-brother, Mike Bishop.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Cottages and Sharon from Horizon Hospice for making her comfortable during the past few months.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.Published in Idaho Statesman on June 8, 2014
