Julitta Catherine Boren, 92, of Sterling passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 6 pm Wednesday, March 8 at Tennant Funeral Home. Vigil and Rosary services will follow at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Thursday, March 9 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Bodzioch celebrating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Julitta was born on March 29, 1924 in Fleming to John and Catherine (Friemuth) Hafeman. She attended school in Fleming and graduated from there in 1942. She then attended college at Central Commercial Business College in Denver. During WW II, she worked at the Sioux Ordinance Depot in Sidney, NE. It was there that she was introduced to her future husband by her older brother, George. She married Jimmie D. Boren on November 10, 1945 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Sterling.

After she was married, she worked odd jobs and was a mother and homemaker. Following her husband, Jim's death, Julitta worked from 1982-86 in the dietary department at Sterling Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a charter member of the Legion of Mary, a member of the Mother Cabrini Circle, and worked on the funeral dinner committee. Julitta loved to play cards, was known for being a terrific baker and was a gracious hostess in her neighborhood and community.

Julitta is survived by her children and their families, brother, sister-in-law, 32 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; son Jack; daughter Janice Vye; her parents; and brothers Arthur Hafeman, George Hafeman and Norbert Hafeman; and sister Sarah Armstrong.
