The funeral tor Lenore Crilly will be today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m., at the First United
Methodist Church, Superior.
She died Saturday at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital at the age of 93
years 4 months and 6 days.
Lenore Hagel -Crilly, the daughter of Robert and Lillian Andersen Hagel was born Aug.
17, 1896, in Douglas, Otoe County, Nebraska.
She graduated from high school in Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska,
studying music.
Oct. 21,1921, she was united in marriage to Howard Crilly, publisher of The Superior
Express for 35 years. He preceded her in death in May, 1989.
Mrs Crilly worked for her husband on his first two
newspapers, the Bird City, Kan., Eagle and the McCook Evening News.
Mrs. Crilly was active in the community and with her children's activities in her
earlier years. She was a 25-year member of the Eastern Star, a 53-year member and
president of the Superior American Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church. During
World War II she was active with the Red Cross.
In her later years she returned to an earlier interest in painting and when she was 83
she and Pat McCord, another local artist, held a showing of their work at the Superior City
Auditorium.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard,
and one brother, Darold.
Survivors include her son, Donn Crilly, San Leandro, Calif., daughter, Mrs. Louis
Meyers (Jan), Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Valene and Philip Meyers and Ryan
Crilly and other relatives.
The Rev. Jerry Heydenberk was the officiant. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
