From the 9/27/1918 Willshire, Ohio, Herald: "Mrs. John Acheson, a venerable and highly esteemed lady, died at her home in this village at four o'clock Thursday morning, September 26, 1918, aged about 76 years. She had been ill many weeks, a sufferer from cancer of the liver, which took a fatal turn about two weeks ago, from the ravages of which the severe and patient sufferer was unable to rally. Funeral at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon from the Willshire M.E. church with interment in Woodlawn cemetery at Van Wert. More extended obituary will appear in The Herald next week...
Article directly following the above, edited: Elizabeth Acheson was born in Van Wert county, October 27, 1841, and fell asleep at her home in Willshire, Ohio,...aged 76 years, 10 months and 29 days. September 18, 1860, she was united in marriage with John Acheson, and for 58 years they have walked the path of life together. To this union were born eight children - five sons and three daughters - Franklin, Josephine Bartlett and Myrtle having preceded their mother in death. Her whole life, with the exception of three years, was lived in Van Wert county. She was brought up in the Presbyterian faith, but in early married life she was converted, and joined the Pleasant Chapel M.E. church. After moving to Willshire she reconsecrated herself to God and united with the M.E. church of this village. She remained true to her Master until the end came. Her testimony and eanrest zeal for the Master will never be forgotten. It can truly be said of her that she was a good woman. She leaves to mourn their loss, her aged companion; four sons, Charles of Celina; Ira, of Van Wert; Elza and Ward of this village, and one daughter, Mrs. Logan Wolfe, also of this village; one brother, John Hagerman of Nebraska, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Carlo of Van Wert, and Mrs. Edwin Carlo of St. Paris, O., 12 grandchildren and a host of friends."
