Vernia Lee Hagerman Bales 78 years of age of Jolo, WV passed away Wednesday, December 11 2002 at Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Virginia. Born in West Virginia October 4, 1924 the daughter of the late Adam Hagerman and Zetta Goodman Hagermn. She was a member of Jolo Church of Christ and was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who enjoyed gardening, sewing and singing gospel music. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter: Judy Ann Bales; three sisters: Gladys Shelton, Lois Jean Hagerman and Nancy Jane Hagerman. She is survived by her husband of 56 years: John Bales; two daughters: Mrs Donald (Emma Gaye) Wagner; Mrs David (Diana) Powell; three sons: John (Ike) Bales; Hobert Bales; Henry Bales; two sisters: Alice Beavers; Rosie Keith; four brothers: Dave Hagerman; John Pete Hagerman; Roy Kenneth Hagerman; Walter Hagerman. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Special caregivers: Betty Jo Hagerman, Christal Hagerman, Anna Shrader and Christie Hagerman. Funeral services for Vernia Lee Hagerman Bale will be conducted Sunday, December 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Crossview Church of Christ, Jolo, WV with Evangelists: Hobert Kennedy, Michael Trent and Michael Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodman Cemetery on Compton Mountain, Jolo, WV. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Wagoner, Kevin Bales, Austin Bales, Jay Cole, Jerry McKnight, James Collins and Jason Vest. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Moody and Darrell Long. The body will be taken to the Crossview Church of Christ Saturday at 6 p.m. where friends may call. Evening services will be held at 7:00 p.m. The family of Vernia Lee Hagerman Bales is being served by Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy, Virginia.
