Daughter of Henry W. McClellan and Mary Ann (Cathcart) McClellan. Henry never came home from the Civil War. Mother Mary Ann with daughters Josie and Sadie, moved to Nebraska with the help of several of her brothers, and eventually married Madison Waddell. Sarah Elizabeth, better known as Sadie, married Philander M. Marks (they had at least 4 children). On 27 Apr 1897 in Boise City, Ada Co, Idaho, (as Mrs. Sadie Marks) she was married to George Wallace Bacon, by J.B. Weber, Minister of the Gospel. They had a daughter and a son, both born in Boise. In 1901 George, who was a large sturdy man, was felled by a blow to the back of the head with a doubletree, while in his blacksmith shop in Nyssa, Oregon. He returned to Boise by train, and shortly thereafter died as a result of the head injury. Sadie then apparently married an unknown Clark, as she was married to Albert L. Haines on 10 Sep 1904 in Ada Co, Idaho (as Sadie Clark).
