Hertha H. Adams, 92 of Tecumseh, Oklahoma died Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Hertha was born to Amos Howard and Nettie Arlene (Runnells) Hairston May 11, 1922 in Gunter, Texas. Hertha was raised in the Hondo, Texas area. She married Elmer Adams May 29, 1942 in New Braunfels, Texas. They moved to the Indianola /Eufaula Area after World War II. Hertha retired from Rockwell International in McAlester in 1986. She was involved in the building of the Indianola Senior Citizen/Community Center. One of her favorite jobs was working with the Foster Grandparents Program at the Canadian Grade School. She recently moved to Tecumseh from Lake Eufaula. She was a member of Indianola First Baptist Church since 1952. Survivors include her sons, Michael Adams and wife, Pamela, of Oklahoma City, and Russell Adams and wife, Deborah, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Jonell Adams, of Tecumseh. Also, grandchildren, Ryan Adams and wife, Elizabeth, of Oklahoma City, Ashley Holloman and husband, Matt, of Edmond, and Chad Adams and wife, Melissa, of Edmond; eight great-grandchildren. And, sisters, Edna Hendrix, Jacksboro, Texas, Clarice Marshall, Garland, Texas, and Jonell Clark and husband, Roy, of Tecumseh; sisters-in-law, Betty Hairston and June Hairston, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Hertha was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Nettie Hairston; her husband, Elmer Adams in 1995; a granddaughter, Kerri Adams; brothers, Mason Hairston, Murray Hairston, Orval Hairston.
