She was born Sept. 6, 1950, in Barton, the daughter of the late Frederick and Doris (Viitala) Hall. She attended Spaulding High School in Barre.
On Aug. 8, 1986, she married Nelson Knight "Bud" Abbott in Woodbury.
In her earlier years, Yolanda was employed at the Clark School for the Deaf in North Hampton, Mass. She later worked for the Greensboro Nursing Home and for 10 years she worked for Bombardier in Barre. She retired in 1999 due to an injury.
She will be remembered as a very kind lady with a heart of gold. She was always willing to give to those in need. She enjoyed the time that she spent with her grandchildren, traveling, country music, animals especially cats, playing the guitar and the accordion.
Survivors include her husband, Nelson "Bud" Abbott of Cabot; a daughter, Karen Crist and her husband E. Michael Crist of Barre; a son, Danny Shea and his wife Robin of Hardwick; a stepson, Daniel Abbott of Cabot; three grandchildren, RandyMolleur and Timothy Crist, both of Barre, and Natalia Shea of East Hardwick; a sister, Valdine Hall of Greensboro; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three siblings, Bruce F. Hall, Daryl Hall and Wanda Hall; and a stepson, Douglas Abbott.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm St., Hardwick.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ernest Machia of the Hope Community Church in Walden officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Humane Society, Central Vermont, Route 14, East Montpelier, VT 05651.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dian R. Holcomb of Northern Vermont Funeral Service, 60 Elm St., Hardwick.
