Charles F. Hamilton, 74, Died at Football Game
Porterville, Nov. 5 (Exclusive) – Charles S. . Hamilton, 74 a resident of this district the last 49 years, was buried today in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Nilligan of the First Congregational Church. Hamilton, who died of a heart attack Saturday while attending the Stanford-Santa Clara football game at Palo Alto, was a former county rodent control inspector.
Born in Carson City, Nevada when that city was a roaring silver cam, Hamilton had a colorful and adventurous life. As a boy he rode race horses for Lucky Baldwin. He was a cowpuncher in Arizona and New Mexico and was personally acquainted with Billy the Kid. He served several years with the United States Regular Army and was with the American troops when they marched into Peking during the Boxer Rebellion. He leaves his widow Emelia.

First marriage to Annie Spratt (1876-1946) in 1897 – one child: Louis Hamilton (1900-1966)
