Mrs. Baker, 93, died Wednesday, March 2, 1988 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had resided since March 17, 1986.

Born Sarah Hanley, October 10, 1894, in Jordan Township, Fillmore County, she attended Chatfield schools and graduated from Chatfield Normal School. She taught in rural schools until her marriage to James Baker on January 9, 1921. The couple farmed in the Wykoff area. Mr. Baker died in 1969.

Survivors include a son, William, of Wykoff; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Baker of Chatfield. A great-grandson, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

The funeral for Sarah Baker was Friday, March 4, 1988 at Wykoff United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Deanna Woodward officiating. Spring burial will be in Chatfield Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Boyd Baker, Kevin Eickhoff, Dennis Meyer, Gregory Perry, Donald Schultz, Jeff Shaw.
