James W. Hanley

James Hanley, age 70 of Dwight formally of Coal City, passed away Friday July 10, 2009 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Born October 5, 1938 in Chicago he was a son of Joseph H. and Ruth Naomi Wilson-Hanley.
He was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1956.
James served his country in the Navy from 1956 through 1958.
After the service, he worked with Chicago Bridge and Iron Workers where he was a welder building water towers until his retirement after 33 years.

Survivors include his two daughters: LeAnn Brengs and Irene Scerine; three grandchildren; 15 brothers and sisters: Suzanne (John) Lissy, Judy (Richard) George, Cathy (Jim) Hutchings, Bill (Gail) Hanley, Tim (Jodi) Hanley, Mike (Sharon) Hanley, Jane (Jim) Calcaterra, Jean (Gary) Skubic, Ruth Ann (Dan) Mulhall, Al Hanley, Patty (Terry) O'Bert, Janet (John) Peters, Dave Hanley, Jeff (Nancy) Hanley and Tom (Rhonda) Hanley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Joe Hanley.

Memorial visitation and service will be held on Saturday July 18th between the hours of 9 :00am and 11:00am with services following at 11:00am with Dr. Tom Logsdon officiating at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Private Family interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, in Elwood.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in James's memory to Disabled Veterans of Illinois.
